Another one of my Debts belongs to Orange and is another mobile phone contract I took out like the crazy being I was.
As it stands, here is an overview of my Orange Debt: –
Current Balance: £1,555.20
Original Balance: £1,799.20
Monthly Payment: £11.97
What happened when I didn’t pay Orange?
I received numerous phone calls chasing me for payment and this continued for about three months. I also got some phone calls on my work phone. Despite Orange removing it, they still passed it on to the debt collection agency.
I also received letters requesting payment as well advising me that the phone contract would be terminated unless the account was brought back up to date.
After six months of none payment the account was defaulted and referred to a Debt Collection Agency called Moorcroft.
What are Moorcroft like to deal with?
I have dealt with Moorcroft for some of my other debts so I knew what to expect.
I set up a repayment plan and paid the account for about six months. Yet again Moorcroft had failed to update my address with the original creditor.
Only when I phoned Moorcroft to get a balance update was I told that the account had been referred to a new Debt Collection agency called NCO Europe.
What are NCO Europe like to deal with?
An absolute nightmare to be honest. I called up to try an arrange a repayment plan and was rejected. Each time I phoned up I would be greeted with someone who was very angry at something and decided to take it out on me.
After several calls I gave up and sent NCO an e-mail with an offer of payment and Income and Expenditure Form.
I did not hear anything and in the meantime I received a letter from a company called Westminsters Solicitors. The letter had a spelling mistake in the title and did not look professional at all.
I managed to speak to someone at NCO Europe to vent my disgust at the letter and lack of cooperation from them regarding my repayment arrangement.
In the end the repayment amount was agreed and I have not heard anything for nearly three months now which is a good thing.
Update: I was contacted by NCO Europe a couple of days ago because I had missed my payment. Unfortunately I had forgotten to set up the standing order. They were more than reasonable when I explained what had happened.
This was much better that my previous treatment so I thought I should mention it.
What are my plans for the Debt to Orange?
I will be paying this off in the near future. In part because I want to get NCO Europe off my back. They appear unpredictable and very difficult to deal with. Not very good in my opinion.
