Money, the thing we all need but never have enough of. Some of us have money problems and we are not sure how to solve them. Well you can usually address money problems providing you don’t ignore the situation. This post looks at some of ways you can begin to solve your issues.

What is the cause of your Money Problems?

Usually you need to find the source of the problem in order to solve it. With that being said let’s take a look at some of the causes of money  problems: –

– You have lost your job.

– A life changing event has occurred causing you to not have as much money as you did previously.

– You spend more than you earn.

– You don’t live within your means.

– You are in a lot of debt and don’t have enough money to pay it back.

The above list is just a collection of general examples and there are a whole lot more. However the main point here is to find out the cause of your money problems so you can begin to take action in order to resolve the problem.

What can you do to solve Money Problems?

Now we know what the source of the problem is, it is time to take action to address it. Below are ways I would solve the examples I outlined above: –

You have lost your Job

I would be frantically searching for a new job, although getting a job in the current economy is very tough. I am currently employed at the moment but I am building an emergency savings fund to help should this ever happen.

In the UK if you have lost your job due to redundancy there is financial support out there. I would look into this to see what I would be able to get if the need arose.

A life changing event has occurred causing you to not have as much money as you did previously

This could be a really difficult time for you. Not only are you having to deal with what has happened but you now have money problems hanging over you as well. Faced with this challenge and assuming my head was straight then I would start to cut costs in any way I can.

For example I would try to cut costs on travel, shopping or the Sky subscription. I would also take a look at my debt situation and consider temporarily reducing the payments I am making. I would recommend seeking professional help in this instance and I provide links to where you can get this help at the end of this post.

You spend more than you earn

If this was happening I would again look at cutting out unnecessary expenses. For example instead of a gym membership I would go for a run. If I worked nearby I would consider walking or using public transport if that was cheaper than driving.

I would see if I could reduce the cost of my gas and electricity supply using a comparison website. If I was renting my home I might consider looking for cheaper accommodation.

In other words I would take a look at all my monthly outgoings and see what could be cut out completely or reduced.

You don’t live within your means

As in the previous example above, I would be looking at which expenses I can get rid of or reduce. I would stop going out as much if I had to (and I do at the moment because I cannot afford to).

If I absolutely must maintain the current lifestyle then I would consider changing to a better paid job, or working part time along my full time job. However this is quite a drain based on my previous experience of doing this.

You are in a lot of debt and don’t have enough money to pay it back

This can be quite serious. I would initially look at reducing your monthly expenses. If after doing that you still don’t have enough money then it is time to get help. I provide links to help with this at the end of this post. In the mean time, please see the article below to see how you can take back control of your finances.
