Another update to my list of debts and this time I discuss my QuickQuid Debt.

My debt with QuickQuid stems from a payday loan I had taken out.

I had been deferring my QuickQuid Loan payment for a number of months before I decided it was time to default.

Here are the usual pieces of information: –

Current Balance: £443.55
Original Balance: £518.37
Charges Added: £168.37

What happened when I didn’t repay my QuickQuid account?

Apart from receiving a lot of e-mail telling me my account was overdue, not a lot really happened for the first six months. I received a couple of reminder letters through the post as well.

I did attempt to set up a three month repayment plan with QuickQuid but found them completely uncooperative. Their dealing with me was a complete disgrace. I wanted to settle the account over three months but they were having none of it.

Well fine, I thought I will leave them to it and I did.

After a total of six months had passed, the account was passed to a Debt Collection Agency called Face2Face contact. I was also told that my account would be marked as defaulted on my Credit Report.

What happened with Face2Face Contact?

Just the usual letters really demanding payment. Not to worry I thought, I will send off my offer of repayment letter along with an income and expenditure form.

Nothing memorable happened whilst Face2Face were collecting the debt. I paid, they collected and that was about it. I don’t recall having any issues so to speak.

After about a year, the account was passed to Mackenzie Hall.

What happened with Mackenzie Hall?

Hmm, at first they were a complete nightmare. I was misinformed on the telephone that they could get an attachment of earnings order straight away.

When I explained that they could only do this once they had a County Court Judgment against me, and then only if I did not maintain the payments I was told I was wrong.

OK I thought these guys sound like a nightmare. So I told them, go ahead take me to court if you like. I have been there before and you certainly don’t scare me with your threats.

Instead a continual cycle of letters were posted out to me, threatening court action or a visit from a doorstep collector. I thought ok I will get some tea and biscuits ready.

Again this did not concern me. Yeah I am in debt, what of it? I have already had visits from doorstep collectors. I just tell them go away. I have already tried to reason with your company and been ignored so go take a hike.

Instead I crafted my generic letter, along with a complete income and expenditure and can you guess what happened? They accepted my repayment. I have not been bothered since then.

What are my plans for my QuickQuid debt?

It is on the list to be settled by the end of next year. I am also investigating what charges were added on and will try to reclaim these as well. I will keep you updated!

Have you had any dealings with QuickQuid or Mackenzie Hall? If so what happened?
