With Christmas over now for another year the new year gets us thinking about things. One of the things some us will be thinking about is whether it is time to get some debt advice. Christmas is an expensive time of year and for some is the straw that breaks the camels back. What I mean by that is they reach the point whereby they can no longer service their debts. Soon they will fall behind with their repayments and start to receive arrears letters and phone calls chasing the outstanding payments.
Now for those of you facing this predicament there is help out there for you. There are loads of companies and organisations who can provide you with a solution for your debt. Getting help now is a good thing to do because you will stop the situation getting any worse for yourself.
Where can you get Debt Help and Advice?
There are many places you can go to for advice and help with your debt and I have provided links to a few examples below: –
- The Debt Advice page here at Debt Advice Blog
- StepChange Debt Charity
- Payplan
- Citizens Advice
- Talk about Debt
- Debt Wizard
The above organisations can offer you the right advice and provide you with the help and support you need so you get the debt help and advice that suits you best. Some of the above organisations can also offer you a free debt management plan but all of them will act in your best interests which is the most important thing.
Can you help yourself?
That all depends on your own situation. It is always advisable to talk to a qualified debt advisor before deciding on which way to solve your debt problems. There are many different debt solutions available and some may be more appropriate for you than others. Based on the information you provide they will find the most suitable debt solution for you.
Sometimes you can set up your own debt management plan, but that depends on a lot of different things such as the types of debt you have and how much you have to pay towards your debt to name a few examples.
There is no harm in you seeing what is involved though so please visit my Self Managed Debt Management Plan section if you are interested in seeing what’s involved. There are a few articles there explaining what this involves. You can also keep up to date with my own debt progress as well by visiting the My Debt Section. In that section I write about all kinds of goings on with my debt and the adventures it brings.
So there you have it, some places to get you started with your own debt and information about my debt and what happens with it each month. Please don’t let your debts get you down next year. Take action today and start making things better for the future.
